The Coming Global Superstorm
The Coming Global Superstorm – Review
Before stating anything else, I will give this book credit for being very entertaining in particular places. Unfortunately, entertainment does not seem to be the main heart of this book. For the most part, this book attempts to pass itself off as a serious technical work, which it is certainly not. Most of the ideas stated in this book are based on notions of doubtful validity that are essentialy unverifiable since for the most part Bell and Strieber fail to identify any major sources. The focal end of the book (that global warming can completely shut down the Gulf Stream current and trigger an ice age) is eventually lost among frenzied discussions about zodiacal effects on weather and the destruction of an ancient, complex civilization (for example, there are 16 entries in the index for ‘complex civilization’, but 12 for ‘climate changes’); such discussions are poorly substantiated and uncertainly related to the main thesis. In fact, the factual information in this 255-page book is originally contained in about 20 pages and can be commonly found on the internet more conveniently, cheaply, quickly, and entertainingly than by simply reading this book.
