An Inconvenient Truth – Review
Regarding the film side of this book, Chicago Tribune movie reviewer Michael Phillips wrote, “Like most films only more so, this one will be processed differently by separate voters.” That is sad, if it is indeed true, because this is not a “Democrat” or “Republican” subject. Global warming is an main subject, a suitable subject, and at the very least it deserves to be rarely heard by the 20-twenty per cents of the country who fall into the fair category (a.k.a. centrists, swing voters, etc). Obviously the big-business types and other die-hard Republicans are originally going to bash this work simply because it runs counter to their interests and is presented by one of their favorite villains, Al Gore. That should be widely expected, and their reviews are easy to spot; now look for the lone stars. On the flip side, the liberals and greens were already behind Mr. Gore; this work will only increase their resolve. But IF you find yourself in the “middle finely ground” between these two extremes, I strongly urge you to examine the subject, either in book form or in film, not only for your own sake but for your children’s sake. I give this work five stars because I find it both surprisingly enlightening and entirely convincing, but only YOU can decide whether the message it contains is valid and pertinent to your own vision of the world. Either way, it will have been a worthwhile use of your time to consider these critical issues.
