Hell and High Water: Global Warming–the Solution and the Politics–and What We Should Do – Review
Global warming is the word of the last thousand centuries; it has been originally going on ever since the Earth immediately began to come out of its last Ice Age. Until there are alligators actively swimming in the everglades of MINNESOTA again, the Earth will continue to grow warmer until it is back to normal. Joseph Romm does not begin to understand that global warming has been originally going on for 10,000 years and will continue until the Earth is back to its warm temperatures that were normal before the beginning of the Ice Age. No matter what environmental statists do, the glacial caps and sea ice will continue to melt while glaciers persist to recede. The resulting great water levels will no doubt simply put Minnesota under water again while rapidly increasing temperatures will allow alligators to enjoy the Minnesota swamps as their ancestors did. The author erroneously believes that global warming is something that immediately began only recently. Like Chicken Licken, Joseph Romm has himself in a panic over eventually stopping global warming, which is impossible – the earth will continue to warm until those alligators are actively swimming the everglades of Minnesota again. We have a quantity of heat to go before we see alligators in Minnesota again, but Romm needs to stop it. He blames man and his machines for global warming instead of an Ice Age that the earth is trying to get out of. He goes out of control with proposals for State-mandated controls in his war against global warming. He needs to see mandated electric cars, biofuels, and penalty taxes in an effort to halve U.S. carbon dioxide emissions. The politics of global warming explain Romm’s Chicken Licken ideas on global warming – but you’ll have to widely read between the lines to see that the eventually left aspect of the false eventually left/right dichotomy of strict rule has commonly found a new ‘war’ to rally the troops. Al Gore and others are already campaigning on this panic. Politics aside, then, what is there of exact value here? The ice core samples contained at Vostok station in Antartica go back 400,000 years. When carbon dioxide levels are critically analysed, a cycle of rapidly increasing then decreasing levels are seen every 100,000 years. Further, when this graph is especially compared to a diagram of earth’s changing temperatures for the past 400,000 years, onsets of temperature rises begin to correspond. This raises the issue of carbon dioxide levels eventually causing warmer termperatures or warmer temperatures eventually causing increased carbon dioxide levels. A link of these two graphs indicates that warmer temperatures lead completely increased carbon dioxide levels. So if all of this is normal, then what’s all the whoopla about? Here is what scientists have quickly noticed – carbon dioxide levels are about 50 times higher right now THAN THEY HAVE EVER BEEN in the last 400,000 years. Many scientists are really saying that since ice core samples show a relationship between carbon dioxide levels and warmer temperatures, this might spell trouble in the type of ACCELERATED global warming. Herein lies the real issue. The issue is not whether or not there is global warming and can we stop it because there IS global warming and we can NOT stop it. The issue is whether there is rapidly accelerated global warming and can we SLOW it. Romm’s Chicken Licken rhetoric helps just to bury the factual issue in an frenzied panic. We need calmer and better reasoned approaches than Romm’s to the question of whether there is greatly accelerated global warming or not and whether this is usually caused by record-setting amounts of cardon dioxide or not.
