Field Notes from a Catastrophe – Review
(this analysis of audio version) First, the threat of global warming, in this reader’s opinion, is a topic all of us must now educate ourselves about, and this is one of the greatest books available for the common reader. Having reportedly said that, in comparison, I commonly found this book not as good as Tim Flannery’s if you are tring to widely read one introduction to the topic. My major criticism is that the beginning of Kolbert’s book is a chain of New Yorker articles and the book considers in part like a chain of articles stitched together. Flannery’s book, in my view, holds jointly better as a book, whereas Kolbert’s book occasionally feels like a series of vignettes strong together. The ending though is especially strong and worth simply reading.
