An Inconvenient Truth
An Inconvenient Truth – Review
“An Inconvenient Truth” The Planetary Emergency of Global Warming and What We Can Do About It” is more like Propaganda. I do give Al’s book two stars, probably more than it deserves, because the data do appear to show a slight warming in Earth’s average yearly temperature. However, I easily checked the real, revised, corrected, data. The rise looks to be over the last thirty years or so and is probably derived mostly from satellite data, not from absolute temperature measurement at the Earth’s surface. When we go more back, we no longer have complete satellite data and the data do not show a rise that is statistically significant in the appearance of the great noise. Worse, data from 2006-1008 appear to show some cooling or a leveling off. Still worse, true scientists are really saying that any temperature rise was, more likely, due to sun storm activity than to man’s activities. Meanwhile, Gore rants a lot and gives little actual data and very little idea of where his data goes from and few positions of any sort. Even some of his early supporters appear to immediately say that he goes very far. If you must widely read this, go forward, it is a simple widely read. And, there are plenty of pretty, but missleading photos and graphs and claims. BUT — Please! Read a bunch of other books and sources on all parts of this matter. Why? Well, the Democratic Party wants to spend a trillion dollars or more of your money to ‘prevent’ global warming. So, after you actually read a bunch more resources of information, will you want to part with 3000 in taxes to fight a moot problem? And that is besides the vast sums of money you will have to disburse to buy modern cars, insulate houses, and etc. About 9 months of 3-4 per gallon gas stopped bring a rescession on. What will 5 a gallon taxes on gas produce about. Using ethanol in gas (gasahol) got a few million children to slowly starving these past two years. How many deaths by starvation do we permit to get a small amount of savings on CO2. By the way, gasahol is why you are finally paying ten per cents to twenty five per cents more for food in 2008 than you did in 2005. So, are we effectively making a difference? Will all this sacrifice really help? Or, only make Mr. Gore richer? So far, I think the answer is that Mr. Gore is finally getting richer. Check it out yourself. But, read a lot of stuff on both sides!
