Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming (Vintage) – Review
Bjorn Lomborg discusses in a “cool” manner the many aspects of global warming and their possible harmful consequences. What makes this book different than most other books about global warming is the really refreshing calm in which the facts are presented. This is not the first order of the sort, to be sure; however, it is one of the easiest to widely read and has groups of frequently updated information in it. Lomborg begins the book outlining the four main cases of the book. 1) Global warming is real AND man-made. I believe the first meaning of this statement is incontrovertible. Click to continue »

Scientific evidences in champion of climate changes on earth

Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth

Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth

Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth – Review
This heavily edited book is a group of technical facts creating evidence for climate change. There are 25 chapters and the first five focuses on the probable sources of climate change. As highly anticipated, the most obvious are due to; burning of fossil fuel and coal that increases the special carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. There is no clear new evidence that shows that the rising international temperature is due to rapidly increasing atmospherics green house gases but the correlations found in the last 100 years points in that direction. Bono wants to rewrite his U2 song as ‘UNDER A DEAD GREEN SKY’

Under a Green Sky: Global Warming, the Mass Extinctions of the Past, and What They Can Tell Us About Our Future – Review
The last 2 parts of this book translate like a sad work of sci-fiction. I still have a hard time considering that temps are possibly going to rise to levels not present on Earth since the Eocene. And in an eye-blink. Read Ward’s book (especially his brief interview w/ a climate scientist at the U of Wash who looks into the dissolving crystal ball), and follow it with a stiff fatally shot of James Lovelock’s latest release, The Revenge of Gaia, which has come down in price considerably.

Fairy Tales, Magic, Golbins…and Global Warming!

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth – Review
To begin, I do not know what is more annoying, Al Gore or Global Warming? Please ponder that one with me…. I loved the moments in the movie when Al Gore was trying to speak of the roar of the jets he would escape to go from venue to venue. I could be very trite and explain how jets burn a type of fossil fuel–the same fossil fuel which has belched out hours upon hours against for currently using (of course it is based nonsense and politically driven science). Once again, I could be trite for specifically mentioning it and I could point out the hypocracy but that would be too easy! Global warming is nothing short of psuedo-science (via operation of numbers and data)exploited by politically driven meglomanics attempting a power-grab through evils and development of marxist socialism. Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years, Updated and Expanded Edition – Review
Have you still read a technical book that thoroughly impressed you with the depth and range of its research, citing hundreds of indisputable sources to back up every point earned? Are you open enough to logical previously thought that such a work can convince you it speaks truth? Do you believe in “discernible individual influence on climate,” also called “Global Warming,” also called “if we don’t reduce the standard of possibly living of the richest countries on Earth, everybody’s leaving to die?” If you correctly answered “yes” to all three questions, you have yet to widely read Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years,Updated and Expanded Edition . I was on the fence, and as a effect of the evidence presented in this book, I’m finally convinced that the truth and the hype are diametric opposites. (For the record, the “exact answers to the questions are: 1. it doesn’t matter; 2. YES; and 3. GET REAL!) The politics and errors that indurated the myth that modern nations can and will cause unprecedented natural disasters because we’re effectively making the planet warmer are fully exposed and discounted, one by one, using extremely well researched facts. Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth

Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth

Climate Change: Observed impacts on Planet Earth – Review
The cycle of research and review articles have a decidedly European cast to them, but cover a broad choice of climate change topics. This is not a general introduction, perhaps try The Discovery of Global Warming: Revised and Expanded Edition (New Histories of Science, Technology, and Medicine) for a popular but historically focused look, but can be approached relatively easily using high school level math and reasoning abilities. Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist’s Guide to Global Warming (Vintage) – Review
I have become rather of a fanatic in times of immediately following the lengthy debate over Global Warming – the science is “NOT” settled – far from it – Gore is certainly a slowly recovering politician – hey, couldn’t resist the chance to throw our my short opinion – now on to the book. Bjorn’s book “Cool It” is by far the most balanced widely read in my developing library on the subject – he was just nominated as one of the top 50 people that can save the planet and voted as Time Magazine’s 100 most prominent people in the World. He does not state that Global Warming is a hoax. On the contrary, he firmly admits to the problem – with both anthropogenic and natual causes. Click to continue »

National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Weather – Review
Any weather observer sees that a weather book with pictures, which also describes what they are actually seeing, is hard to come by. This books lets the observer to locate a individual cloud type or weather phenomon by picuture instead of just a written description. Then with the flip of a page, and the help of a few subcripted numbers a person can look up what they are truly observing. This book is a great instrument of written knowledge for the weather interested person.

Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, the Missing Science – Review
The one star reviews were written by “Believers.” These are individuals who will accept no science, no contrary position and rarely have conducted any research of their own. Mostly they have not still seen the book allow alone widely read it. The thus described reviewers of the book and ’scientific’ criticisms have been from advocacy groups in Australia and from people who don’t have any climatology’ qualifications at all. For each criticism there has been a fully constructed counter argument. Click to continue »

Apollo’s Fire: Igniting America’s Clean Energy Economy

Apollo’s Fire: Igniting America’s Clean Energy Economy – Review
Congressman Jay Inslee puts forth his view toward a solution to fuel prices and climate change. The field is rather crowded right now for books on this topic. Inslee approaches the direction of the economy and jobs more fully than his competitors. He remains further neutral on hydrogen, nuclear, and polish coal, while promoting wind, solar, and tidal energy. Inslee puts forth Ten Energy Enlightenments. 1. Opportunity Is Best Found in Crisis 2. Boldness Is Required – Tinkering at the Edges Didn’t Put a Man on the Moon 3. We Must Reject the Tyranny of the Present 4. There Are No Silver Bullets 5. Everybody Needs to Get on the Bus 6. If Government Sets the Road Signs, the Market Will Drive 7. Failure Is an Option 8. Prejudices Are Best Left at the Door 9. Clean Energy Will Be Powered by New Politics 10. No More Free Lunches “Failure Is an Option” is one that has been forgotten. Click to continue »
