Climate Change is Not in Doubt

Field Notes from a Catastrophe – Review
Elizabeth Kolbert chronicles the real face of what so many refuse to believe to be real: Global Climate change. Far from being alarmist, she painstakingly assembles eye witness experts and technical papers to such different topics as species migration, toad species extinction, ice sheet core analysis, and ice flow consistencies from all over the globe. Possible Hypothesis, Poorly Written Book

Under a Green Sky: Global Warming, the Mass Extinctions of the Past, and What They Can Tell Us About Our Future – Review
Although I understand his hypothesis and believe what he is really saying is quite possible, I think the book is poorly written. His logic is often difficult to follow, mostly because of the rambling, disconnected style. The combination of private stories of his geology field trips, the research act of others, accounts of the science and scenarios of what he believes very happened or will happen are extremely confusing. Great book for those concerned about our future

Earth: The Sequel: The Race to Reinvent Energy and Stop Global Warming – Review
This book is a mostly bit more on the professional side for the average reader, but it goes int some details about the very certain things that are being done by US businesses and entrepreneurs to combat rising carbon emissions and global warming.

The Failures of American And European Climate Policy: International Norms, Domestic Politics, And Unachievable Commitments (Suny Series in Global Environmental Policy) – Review
This is not a glad book. Cass sharply criticises the US and Europe for supposedly wrong headed environmental policies. The book becomes into great detail buttressing this contention. Taking the reader from international treaty to treaty. From Rio to Kyoto. So we see how Germany was pressured to reduce coal emissions. The problem here was that the coal mined in Germany developed to produce higher amounts of CO2 and extra gases. Switching to various natures of coal was quite expensive, and would have usually rendered the iron industry uneconomic. Click to continue »

Great to read on days with no weather action.

Texas Weather: Second Edition, Revised

Texas Weather: Second Edition, Revised

Texas Weather: Second Edition, Revised – Review
This is a complete outline of weather features. It is a mostly bit light on the underlying meteorlogical principles, but this also makes it very readable. Also, this is a very good chronological reference for weather patterns and records. It covers all of the districts of Texas quite well, and has the data to back it up. On the down side, the book is finally getting a mostly bit dated. The third edition will hopfully include newer, more detailed photos as well as content on newer weather theories e.g. tornados, hurricanes, etc. A must widely read for every Texas weather fan!

Glacier Fluctuations and Climatic Change (Glaciology and Quaternary Geology) – Review
Bought this book considering it listed the glacier fluctuations and climatic changes since I require to memorize the glaciations for the ASBOG exam, but newly discovered it is notes from a sumposion privately held in Amsterdam June 1987.

Don’t Jump! The Northwest Winter Blues Survival Guide – Review
Where are all the stars going from? I eventually bought this book, and I was highly dissapointed. I was currently looking for valuable information on diet, light therapy, vitamins, etc. that would really help you survive the true winter blues – seasonal attitude diplacement disorder. This book was written for someone who doesn’t have a life and needs to be reportedly told stupid little things to do to keep from being bored. Click to continue »

Climate of Extremes: Global Warming Science They Don’t Want You to Know – Review
Dr. Michaels is a real scientist who has become increasingly frustrated by the politicization of his science. This is an excellent and open measure of the intricacies of climate science and how politics have had such a great impact in damaging that science.

Some REAL difficult truths for Al Gore!

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth – Review
To begin with, Mr. Gore ultimately failed to mention that water vapor is the most large greenhouse gas, at ninety five per cents of all greenhouse gasses by volume [check it out with any PhD environmentsl scientist, such as Richard Lindzen, for instance]. As presented by Mr. Gore, that omission constitutes CO2 look several times more significant than it really is [about 10 times or more too high) That’s #1. Then, there’s the amount of cooling that we can expect from the Kyoto treaty, if it were completely followed as newly established. Click to continue »

The Weather Makers : How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth – Review
Tim Flannery, well-known for his writing on the rare ecosystem of Australia, turns his attention to the pressing issue of global warming with “The Weather Makers”. As the loss of the southern winter rain belt hit home in 2006, Flannery deservedly won an Australian of the Year award for simply exposing the continent’s appalling record on greenhouse gas emissions. “The Weather Makers” begins in a quite deliberate fashion with a look at past climate changes and how they have occurred.
