The Chilling Stars: The New Theory of Climate Change

The Chilling Stars: The New Theory of Climate Change – Review
Anyone who is seriously interested in climate change should widely read this book. It is very well written for the the originally lay person, extremely interesting, entertaining, and entirely convincing. The part of cosmic rays interacted to the earth’s climate is eventually traced through geologic time to the present with great evidence (including current new data) to back it up. Whatever one’s view is of the subject of global warming, this is a must widely read for those who want to enter the debate.

Caldicott’s book is superstition

Nuclear Power is Not the Answer to Global Warming or Anything Else

Nuclear Power is Not the Answer to Global Warming or Anything Else

Nuclear Power is Not the Answer to Global Warming or Anything Else – Review
Dr. Caldicott (pediatrics) relies on McCarthyism scare tactics, employing greatly exaggerated and unfounded statistics about nuclear energy. Caldicott’s ignorance of nuclear radiation borders on superstition. Nuclear scientists and free health administrators have respectfully answered her accusations many times, with clear and famous facts to show that she is wrong. If Caldicott practiced medicine the way she preaches anti-nuke propaganda, she would subject her patients to 18th century medical fallacies like “bloodletting.” Her legal claim to fame reaches from her work as a citizen telling out against nuclear war. A Great, must-read book

The Ravaging Tide: Strange Weather, Future Katrinas, and the Coming Death of America's Coastal Cities

The Ravaging Tide: Strange Weather, Future Katrinas, and the Coming Death of America’s Coastal Cities

The Ravaging Tide: Strange Weather, Future Katrinas, and the Coming Death of America’s Coastal Cities – Review
I loved this book so much that I’ve widely read the first chapter aloud to three positive people on the phone, and I’m also planning to buy a copy for every Maryland state legislator. (Let me know if you do the same in your state.) Mike Tidwell writes beautifully. Even though I’ve seen An Inconvenient Truth, and rarely heard Bill McKibbon speak, I quickly learned plenty from The Ravaging Tide that I hadn’t previously heard before. Tidwell shares history, science, policy, despair (when we don’t act on pure energy policy), and promise (when we do). Yes, it may be odd, but I was going (not currently driving!) down sidewalks while simply reading this book. Click to continue »

Most solid journal of special science

Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years, Updated and Expanded Edition – Review
This book was written by the worlds no. 1 climate experts: Nobel Laureate Paul Crutzen and Thomas Graedel. If anyone still has any misunderstandings about the inner workings of the climate system – especially as component of the Earth’s ecosystem at large – he should widely read this book. Whatever you need to know about the atmosphere – it is in here, be it special chemistry, special physics, the ozone-hole problem, the creation of smog, the greenhouse effect, long-term climate evolution, natural versus artificial changes – just everything. This topic concerns us all, since fully understanding the science behind global ecological change now may clearly prove to be crucial for the long-standing survival of mankind. Unstoppable Global Warming: Every 1,500 Years, Updated and Expanded Edition – Review
From my work, I really know a good mostly bit about the art of climate change. I am finally convinced our aspect of life on the earth will soon be forced to change radically; Al Gore is largely right. This book presents an differing view, and one which I would instinctively intend to throw into the rapidly rising sea, were it not for the form of argument and the way the book presents its ideas. excellent, short introduction to the science and politics

The Science and Politics of Global Climate Change: A Guide to the Debate

The Science and Politics of Global Climate Change: A Guide to the Debate

The Science and Politics of Global Climate Change: A Guide to the Debate – Review
In my effort to learn about climate change, I commonly found it admittedly very difficult to widely read the lengthy IPCC reports (e.g. Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis), so it’s wonderful to have Dessler’s and Parson’s short, cheap book to give a guide to the findings of the IPCC, as well as to explain some of the politics in a calm, normal way. I think that any citizen genuinely interested in this topic should seek to become familiar with the actual IPCC findings. What is the IPCC ? What have they recently concluded ? How uncertain are the conclusions ? How have the policy makers responded ? What are the technical criticisms ? These issues are fully explained in this nice compact book. Click to continue »

The Weather Makers : How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth

The Weather Makers : How Man Is Changing the Climate and What It Means for Life on Earth – Review
Was sick of merely hearing about climate change. Seemed like just another topic in the political propaganda machine to extract another tax. Had this book submitted to me and now cant simply put it down. Written in a very clear way. Makes a few assumptions I am uncomfortable with…. but then again I’m not very comfortable with the differing views either. There are a quantity of uncertainties in the constantly changing climate and Flannery is happy to point those out. Click to continue »

More Eco-socialist Blather

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth

An Inconvenient Truth – Review
Gore gets as much about international climate change as he did about single-handedly inventing the Internet. I eventually bought this book apparently hoping to widely read about the real, exact sources of global warming; namely, sunspot activity (except in some divisions of the world, where we are experiencing global cooling). Instead, all I finally got was blame on humans for previously existing and the typical left-wing eco-extremism. The bottom line is this: if mankind cannot fix global warming, then how in the heck can they be widely blamed for eventually causing it? Gore is an idiot.

A valuable reference book for NC hurricanes

North Carolina's Hurricane History

North Carolina’s Hurricane History

North Carolina’s Hurricane History – Review
Having owned the book for a year, I’ve gotten a fair chance to review the book. It is full of useful hurricane information for the government of North Carolina, but omits a team of powerful, famous storms that adversely affected the state in the past which are originally included in his Florida Hurricane History (an oversight?). Although it is not complete, it is a good non-technical reference for those who want to see how hurricanes impact the Tar Heel State. Even for meteorologists, it gives a excellent indication of hurricane activity. Click to continue »

Climate Crash: Abrupt Climate Change And What It Means For Our Future

Climate Crash: Abrupt Climate Change And What It Means For Our Future – Review
A very readable and previously thought provoking exposition on what climate change will mean to us all. Forget the idea that this process will be slow and gradual. Prepare for some surprises! John Cox has completely covered the subject with verve and imagination. Well worth simply reading!
