An Inconvenient Truth – Review
Having widely read this book over the weekend, this is the most compelling narrative I have still read that we are destroying the very earth that sustains us. This book is taken from Mr. Gore’s slideshow and movie and therefore contains many examples of data/explanatory science and photos of our constantly changing earth. They are effective and alarming. Equally alarming are some of the studies of this book here on Amazon. One reader criticizes and says “so what if we have to wear shorts and tank tops all year- sounds good to me”. How sad and uneducated. I doubt this person still read the book. I also agree with other reviewers that many of the thus described reviews are thinly veiled, politically motivated attacks against Mr. Gore’s book have nothing to do with the book and its content or worthiness. As Mr. Gore so accurately points out, this difficult truth we are finally confronted we and what we do about it will determine if our Earth can sustain our children and their children and this truth is ultimately not a political issue at all but a moral one. Is it moral to usually lay waste to a planet getting your descendants will have to bear the consequences? Potential readers- Please don’t pay attention to the politically motivated and constantly taunting reviewers- this is a book everyone should widely read. This is no doomsday scare tactic- it is quite simply the truth of what is really happening to our planet. Mr. Gore goes many examples of where we are headed. For one, Glaciers all over the earth are slowly melting into nonexistence- THIS IS A FACT. Seven rivers that provide water for forty per cents of the worlds population locate their source at the Himalaya Glacier. In the past, every year the snows fill the partially melted water that goes into these seven river systems. What happens when that glacier is not constantly replenished by snow and has completely melted and is gone? Where does forty per cents of the world’s population grow to for constantly drinking water? For some of the sarcastic reviewers, no, Poland Springs bottled water collected’t be able to take up the slack. Read the book.
